Byron Donalds Scores Florida Farm Bureau Endorsement, Reinforcing Front-Runner Status in Governor’s Race

Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds added another major endorsement to his growing coalition Thursday after receiving the backing of the political arm of the Florida Farm Bureau, one of the state’s most influential agricultural organizations.

The endorsement comes as Donalds continues to consolidate support among key Republican constituencies ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. Already armed with the endorsement of President Donald Trump and a substantial fundraising advantage, Donalds has emerged as the clear front-runner in the Republican primary field.

FarmPAC, the political committee associated with the Florida Farm Bureau, announced its support after reviewing candidates and their positions on issues affecting Florida agriculture. The organization represents farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses across the state and has historically been a significant force in statewide elections.

“This endorsement means a great deal because Florida agriculture is vital to our state’s economy and heritage,” Donalds said following the announcement. He pledged to support policies benefiting farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.

A Growing List of Influential Endorsements

The Farm Bureau endorsement adds to an already impressive list of supporters behind Donalds’ campaign. The Southwest Florida congressman has secured backing from President Trump and several major conservative organizations, helping him establish a commanding position in the race.

Political observers note that agricultural endorsements often carry outsized influence in Florida politics because of the industry’s economic impact and extensive grassroots network throughout rural counties. The support could prove especially valuable in Republican strongholds across North Florida and the state’s interior.

Race Continues to Expand

While Donalds remains the candidate to beat, the Republican field continues to attract contenders seeking to succeed term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis. Among those running are Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and former House Speaker Paul Renner, among others.

On the Democratic side, former Congressman David Jolly has emerged as a leading contender, setting up what could become one of Florida’s most closely watched statewide races.

Why It Matters

Major endorsements do not guarantee victory, but they often signal where influential political and business groups believe a race is headed. The Florida Farm Bureau’s decision to back Donalds adds another powerful organization to his corner and strengthens the perception that he is the candidate to beat in the Republican primary.

As Florida’s 2026 governor’s race takes shape, Donalds continues to build a coalition that extends from Trump’s political base to key sectors of the state’s economy, positioning himself as the early front-runner in one of the nation’s most watched gubernatorial contests.
