The White House compares Maduro with Mussolini, Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi

The White House published a Spanish-language video message to the Venezuelan people comparing socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro with “authoritarian leaders” such as the Soviet Joseph Stalin, the Italian Benito Mussolini, the Iraqi Saddam Hussein, the Libyan Muammar Gaddafi, the Iranian Ayatollah Ruholá Khomeini and the Ugandan Idi Amin Dada.

“His tactics are copied directly from the countless authoritarian leaders before him,” said the video with Spanish phrases posted on the Twitter account @LaCasaBlanca.

The video begins with part of the speech of President Donald Trump to the nation last Tuesday where he condemns the “brutality” of the Maduro regime and affirms that its socialist policies have led Venezuela, one of the richest countries in Latin America, to one where extreme poverty and despair prevail.

Then there are photos of Mussolini, Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, Ruhollah Khomeini, and Idi Amin Dada.

The photo of the Venezuelan ruler with the caption “Maduro must go.”

Among the measures highlighted in the video is the imprisonment of the opposition leader Leopoldo López, of the Voluntad Popular party, the same party to which the interim president of Venezuela Juan Guaidó belongs.

The creation of a National Constituent Assembly, parallel to the democratically elected Parliament; the death of 130 protesters at the hands of “the security force of the government” from March to July 2017 and the obligation to be alone on the Internet or the closure of 155 newspapers, television channels and radio stations are other aspects included in the video.

“And now Maduro is calling for new legislative elections. Once (more) ignoring the Constitution and the voice of the people. We’ve seen this before, “says the video, while photos of the” authoritarian leaders “are interspersed again.

The Venezuelan dictator, Nicolás Maduro, signed an open letter on Thursday that will address the people of the United States in which he calls for peace in his country and for the government of his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to take his “hands” of Venezuela.

The opposition has said that the new mandate that Maduro swore on January 10 lacks legitimacy, after having obtained it in a vote that is fraudulent and boycotted, and that is why the Presidency falls on Guaidó until free elections are announced.
