Vice President Mike Pence is set to announce “concrete steps” and “clear actions” that the US government will take to face the crisis situation in Venezuela.

Pence, who will attend the Lima Group meeting in the Colombian capital, will also hold a bilateral meeting with the interim president of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó.

The information was advanced by a senior official of the Donald Trump government who said that, given the “immediate need” for humanitarian aid, efforts to get it to continue will continue, despite Saturday’s events that ended with a high number of wounded and several dead.

Military forces of the Nicolás Maduro government clashed with demonstrators demanding the entry of humanitarian aid, at the two border points destined for entry into Brazil and Colombia.

The official also said that there is an infrastructure ready to facilitate the delivery of aid but remains under the table for “obvious reasons.”

Pence will give a speech, in Bogota, on Monday afternoon, in the framework of the summit of the Lima Group and will also meet with the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, and members of the Venezuelan community in the Colombian capital.
