Frustrated Democrats battle to force Trump to cooperate with their investigations

Furious at President Trump’s refusal to cooperate, frustrated Democrats are having difficulty organizing an aggressive campaign aimed at forcing him to cooperate with their investigations.

The Democrats and their leaders are feeling a new urgency to reclaim their authority as a government branch with as much power as the Executive one.

House Democrats are even threatening to imprison officials, retain their salaries and perhaps even make impeachment case against the president.

Some of those who previously asked for caution, today are saying that the impeachment against President Trump may be inevitable.

One of the contemplated options is to gather in a single package the citations for contempt of several administration officials and send it to the local federal district court, similar to the way in which Congress resorted to the courts in order to force the then president Richard Nixon to deliver the audio recordings of his conversations in the Oval Office. President Nixon’s refusal of the petition gave rise to impeachment.

The vote that the Judicial Committee made on Wednesday in favor of declaring in contempt attorney General William Barr unleashed a strategy of greater confrontation than the initial measures of hearings aimed at shedding light on presidential failures. Now the full Congress must vote on the contempt resolution, not knowing when the vote will take place.

Dealing with the frustrated Democrats and giving in to their demands and investigations is a problem because they will never be satisfied and they will always want more.
