The constant attacks of President Donald Trump on the impeachment inquiry process led by the Democrats have contributed to his re-election campaign raising $13 million.
House Speaker “Nancy (Pelosi) just called for Impeachment. WITCH HUNT!” his campaign said in one fundraising text message sent Tuesday. “I need you on my Impeachment Defense Team.”
In the 24 hours that followed Pelosi’s announcement on Tuesday, the campaign reported a collection of $5 million from online donors from all 50 states, said campaign manager Brad Parscale.
Apart from the online money, Trump is estimated to have raised 5 million for his campaign and the Republican National Committee on Wednesday night at a fundraising event, followed by another 3 million on Thursday morning at breakfast, according to a Republican National Committee official.
Next week is the deadline to report fundraisers during the third quarter. Just over a year after the November 2020 election, the Trump campaign and the RNC have already reported a collection of more than 210 million since the beginning of 2019, according to Federal Electoral Commission files. That is more than the combined sum during that period of the collections of all Democratic candidates who want to replace him.
But he is not the only one who is trying to take advantage of the fervor for the political trial, which derives from his efforts to have Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democratic presidential candidate in 2020, and his family.
Joe Biden also reported an increase in donations last week after it transpired that Trump had talked with the Ukrainian president, according to his campaign.
