Agents of the United States Capitol Police arrested an armed man on Friday night who allegedly tried to use false press credentials to foreseeably commit an attack at Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony, which will take place on January 20 in Washington, D.C.
The arrest occurred around 6:00 p.m. (local time) in one of the numerous checkpoints installed in the vicinity of Congress, according to court documents cited by local media.
Officers detained the suspect when he tried to gain access to the security perimeter with false credentials for the ceremony, a Glock pistol and more than 500 bullets. At the moment he is accused of possession of weapons and ammunition without registering.
