Two Florida residents pleaded guilty to a $40,000 scheme to sell a Diary and other items belonging to President Joe Biden’s daughter to the conservative group Project Veritas.
According to Manhattan US Attorney Damian Williams’ office, Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport stolen property out of state.
Although Ashley Biden and the organization she paid for were not named by the authorities, Project Veritas has provided information about the investigation in court documents and public statements.
According to the court file, Ashley Biden “stored” the diary, tax records, a digital device with family photos, a cell phone, and other items there in the spring of 2020 when she was moving out of a friend’s home in Delray Beach, Florida. Ashley Biden, it would seem, would have given up on her possessions.
Prosecutors claim Harris stole the items and contacted Kurlander, who contacted Project Veritas, who requested photos of the material and then paid the two to take the items to New York.
Kurlander will cooperate with the Justice Department’s investigation into how Project Veritas obtained the diary, according to prosecutors, as part of the plea deal.
Prosecutors said that Project Veritas paid them each $20,000 in cash. According to Project Veritas, it received the diary from “informants” who said it was abandoned in a room. The activist group claimed it turned over the diary to the police and did nothing illegal.
Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe has stated that the organization ultimately did not release information from the diary because he could not confirm that it belonged to Ashley Biden.
