President Joe Biden plans to take a 10-day vacation to a beach in Delaware starting this Friday, despite the ongoing controversy regarding Hunter’s criminal investigation.
Biden has spent a historically large proportion of his time in office on vacation, and his most recent excursion, to Rehoboth Beach, is the latest in a long line of such excursions. Joe is taking time off while his son Hunter faces charges of tax fraud and making false statements on a firearm application.
Hunter Biden had negotiated a plea bargain that was widely criticized as a “sweetheart deal,” but the agreement collapsed after the judge decided to review the case because of concerns about the language used. That brought Hunter Biden back into the limelight, where he could face incarceration.
The president will leave Maine this evening for Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he will spend the next week, the press secretary announced to a gathering of reporters on Friday.
Biden has made three trips in the past month, including two to Delaware, where he and his family were spotted tanning on the beach. That trip occurred during the heat of the scandal surrounding the discovery of cocaine in the Oval Office.
In the midst of a border crisis in December 2022, the president also took a trip to the Virgin Islands. He told the media that “more important things were going on.”
Nearly a fourth of 2022 was devoted to Biden’s vacation travel to places like Delaware, Camp David, South Carolina, and others. As of January, Biden is on pace to take more vacations than any president before him.
