DeSantis Skips New Hampshire, Moves Presidential Campaign To South Carolina

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has made the strategic decision to skip New Hampshire and instead focus his presidential campaign efforts on South Carolina. This bold move is seen as a direct challenge to former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who is considered a strong contender in her home state.

According to The Hill, DeSantis intends to travel to South Carolina right after the Iowa caucuses. This calculated maneuver is seen as a clear provocation to Nikki Haley in her own territory. DeSantis is taking a different approach by prioritizing South Carolina, the initial state in the South where GOP voters are prominent, rather than following the usual path to New Hampshire.

As per campaign spokesperson Andrew Romeo, DeSantis has a planned appearance in Greenville, South Carolina, and wants to highlight the enduring nature of their campaign. Their strategy includes participating in primary elections in New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, and several other states during the month of March.

Currently, DeSantis and Haley are trailing behind former President Trump in Iowa, where Trump holds a significant advantage. Nevertheless, Haley has managed to reduce Trump’s advantage in South Carolina, earning the support of 31 percent. Meanwhile, DeSantis is placing his trust in his endorsements and a robust campaign in South Carolina to build up his momentum.

Following his successful campaign in South Carolina, DeSantis has been scheduled to make an appearance at a CNN town hall. The decision to prioritize South Carolina after Iowa demonstrates DeSantis’s unique campaign approach, deviating from the usual path taken by candidates.

The significance of this: DeSantis’s choice to go straight to South Carolina after Iowa indicates a departure from conventional campaign tactics, potentially establishing a new standard for future campaigns. The move further highlights the competitive aspect of the race, as DeSantis aims to challenge Haley in her home state and contend with Trump’s significant advantage.

The outcome of the state’s caucus in South Carolina has the potential to significantly impact the dynamics of the race, given the focus of his campaign on this particular state.
