The governor-elect of Florida, the Republican Ron DeSantis, canceled a traditional parade for the opening day of the mandate opting to get to work quickly, local media reported today.

DeSantis will assume as the 46th governor of Florida next Tuesday during a ceremony at the state Capitol in Tallahassee, and which will also be sworn Jeanette Nuñez as vice governor, becoming the elected Hispanic candidate with high rank in the history of Florida.

The oath, preceded by a “prayer breakfast,” will be followed by a speech before legislators and elected officials at the Capitol, where, according to Susie Wiles, head of the governor-elect’s campaign and transition team, the republican will speak about his Government priorities.

“He will emphasize continued prosperity in Florida, an improved option for parents regarding their children’s education and relentless attention to improve the Florida environment,” Wiles said, according to the Miami Herald.

The event on Tuesday will end with a dance at the Donald Tucker Civic Center, which will only be accessed by invitation.
