Trump will visit Miami next week amid re-election campaign rally

President Donald Trump plans to visit Miami next week, around the launch of his re-election campaign rally in Orlando, Florida, on June 18.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a flight alert on Thursday for dignitaries for the Miami / Doral area, which is often a sign of an upcoming visit by the president. A person familiar with the president’s plans confirmed that he will visit South Florida.

It is not yet clear why Trump is coming to Miami, or whether he will make a stop in South Florida before or after a scheduled campaign event to be held in Orlando on Tuesday night. The president has not said anything in public about the visit, and neither his campaign nor the White House responded immediately to requests for a statement.

But Trump National Doral Miami, the president’s most profitable asset, is near the Miami International Airport. President Trump usually arrives at the Palm Beach International Airport when he visits his private club in Palm Beach, so this visit probably has nothing to do with a stay at Mar-a-Lago.

The stopover in Miami is a sign of Trump’s intense interest in Florida as a key state in the face of the 2020 elections and in the campaign donor community.

Trump celebrated the launch of his re-election campaign on the so-called Space Coast of Florida a month after taking office in 2017 and held another rally in May in the Florida Panhandle.

His campaign manager, Brad Parscale, also attended several Republican fundraising activities last month.
