CNN’s John King: Problems At The Border Did not Start With Trump

John King, CNN’s news anchor, took the time Tuesday to note that the problems at the US border did not start with President Donald Trump.

Democrats have criticized Trump and his administration for their immigration policies, as well as for the treatment of migrants on the border. King said the United States faced many of the same problems under the Obama administration.

“This particular issue is not new,” King said. “This has been a problem for which the U.S. government has had to find a solution for a long time.”

King then repeated an interview that former President Barack Obama made with George Stephanopoulos of ABC, where Obama issued a warning to migrant families not to send their “unaccompanied” children to the US.

“That is five years ago this week. That was five years ago this week, in the sense that, once again, there is a current division. The current president evokes emotions among the Democrats, “King said. “Many progressives were not happy with that president, President Obama. They called it the ‘deporter-in-chief’. But this problem has been unresolved, different parts of it, for more than 20 years about unaccompanied children. That’s a clip from five years ago this week. When? How?

The Liberals were outraged when Trump announced plans to eliminate millions of illegal immigrants from the country. However, deportation rates were actually higher under Obama’s supervision than in Trump’s.

The Obama administration deported a record of 409,849 illegal immigrants in fiscal year 2012, much higher than any other year under Trump so far.

John King: our fact checkers need a backup generator

All this happened after Trump told reporters that the Obama administration, and not his own, is to blame for the family separations at the border, and that they do not seek to reestablish politics on the US-Mexico border. John King and Abby Phillip of CNN responded with the facts defending Trump.
