Biden resumes vacation despite domestic and international crises

President Biden resumed his vacation on Friday, staying at Camp David as the Taliban rages across Afghanistan and other domestic concerns mount.

Mr. Biden will spend the weekend at the presidential resort in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains before returning to his home in Wilmington next week for the remainder of his summer vacation.

Since Tuesday, Mr. Biden has not commented on the rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.
No public appearances are scheduled for this weekend.

In the meantime, nearly 140,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the United States on Thursday, compared to 35,000 new cases on the same date last month, according to the CDC.

The price of gasoline has risen to its highest level in years, but it’s not just at the pump that consumers are feeling the pinch.Goods and services are becoming more expensive due to a wave of runaway inflation.

But Joe Biden’s administration’s Homeland Security Secretary, admitted this week that the southern border is a “serious challenge”.For the first time in two decades, U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended more than 212,672 people in July 2007.

Even when not at the White House or Camp David, a president has access to secure communications and other Oval Office power trappings.
Although Mr. Biden’s vacation was scheduled at a bad time, some people were not happy with the decision.

President Biden’s White House insisted that he is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan.
According to the report, members of the president’s national security team briefed him on Friday on ongoing efforts to evacuate U.S. civilians.

He is expected to receive additional briefings on Friday and is traveling with staff members who can provide him with updates from any location on his itinerary.

Mr. Biden had no plans to cut his vacation short as of Friday.
He returned to Washington earlier this week to celebrate the Senate’s approval of his two most important economic agenda items, a pair of spending bills totaling more than $4 trillion.

Mr. Biden was supposed to spend the last week in Wilmington, but he returned on Tuesday, held two public events on Wednesday, and then returned to Delaware on Thursday.

The situation in Afghanistan, which has turned into a foreign policy disaster for the Biden administration, is likely to force Mr. Biden to address it at some point in the future.
