The recently suspended Ultra Music Festival in Miami could end up in Miami Beach, according to the proposal presented to the municipal commission of that city.

The City of Miami Beach commissioner Ricky Arriola, has proposed to discuss the issue in the plenary of the legislative body “to begin to negotiate with the Ultra Music Festival team and host the festival at Lummus Park”, located along 10 blocks on Ocean Drive, in March 2020.

This was confirmed by the commissioner to the Local10 television channel, who also anticipated that the motion is scheduled to be presented next Wednesday, when the commissioners meet again.

Indeed, the organizers of the Ultra Music Festival announced just a week ago that they have suspended the celebration of the international electronic music festival in Miami and that they are looking for another place to celebrate the controversial musical encounter, although they assured that they were already talking with the authorities of some locality south of Miami, which they described as “magnificent”.

The last festival, which took place from March 27 to 29, at the Marine Stadium esplanade in Virginia Key, was plagued by transportation problems, especially the first night when more than 30,000 young people opted to walk along the Rickenbacker Causeway to reach the mainland after concluding the series of concerts.

Throughout the years, the festival received millions of people in the Bayfront Park of downtown Miami until the residents of the area managed to persuade the town hall to move it to another place, opting instead to relocate it to Virginia Key.

“That is precisely what is going to happen in Miami Beach if they bring the festival here,” warned Sandra, a South Beach resident.

Those who oppose warn about the lack of a train service between Miami and Miami Beach, which could alleviate traffic congestion and people.

“The people will be stuck to get out and we will see thousands walking through the McArthur Causeway, after having built a madness here,” “We already have enough with the Hip-Hop, Memorial Day and Spring Break parties,” she said.

Unlike Bayfront Park and the Marine Stadium, Lummus Park in Miami Beach has almost twice as much land, 74 acres, where the five or six scenarios that identify Ultra Music Festival, and the more than 60,000 young people who used to go to the festival could be enabled.

According to unofficial data, the municipality of Homeastead, located 22 miles south of downtown Miami, could host the music festival if it manages to convince its organizers that the 650 acres of land available, where there is no neighbors’ displeasure and there is no good public transport service, is the ideal place for it.
