DeSantis Signs $117.6 Billion Budget, Vetoes Nearly $800 Million
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Florida’s $117.6 billion budget Monday after using his line-item veto authority to cut nearly $800 million in spending. The largest vetoes affected corrections infrastructure, a proposed prison hospital and several local projects, while preserving funding for public health programs, artificial intelligence initiatives and education.
With the budget now finalized ahead of the July 1 fiscal year, attention turns to how the spending plan will be implementedโand how it could shape the 2026 gubernatorial race.
