One dead after shooting in front of Trump International Beach Resort in Miami

One person died and another was wounded Sunday afternoon in a shootout that witnesses said occurred near the Trump International Beach Resort Miami in Sunny Isles Beach.

Nearby, also around 1:30 p.m., a third person was wounded in another shooting on the ramp that goes west on the William Lehman Causeway bridge, in the area of Aventura.

The Aventura Police said they were working with the Sunny Isles Beach Police and the Miami-Dade Police to find out if the two shootings were linked.

The shooting in Sunny Isles happened at a very close distance from the Police Department building. The authorities cordoned off the area surrounding the hotel and a small shopping center.

A minivan remained in the parking lot with the body of a person covered with a yellow tarp.

The list of calls to the Miami Fire Department points to 18001 Collins Ave., where the Trump International Beach Resort is located, as the location of the incident and indicated that there was at least one injured.

The person who was injured is the girlfriend of rapper NBA Youngboy, according to witnesses in the area.

The building bears the name of President Donald Trump under a license agreement with the owner. It’s part of the transformation of Sunny Isles Beach, where new skyscrapers have exploded in the spaces occupied by small hotels in the 1950s in the last 20 years.

The oceanfront city north of Miami Beach was incorporated in 1997 and is still known for its shops for tourism. The area is also known as “Little Moscow” because of the relatively high number of Russian-speaking residents.
