A senior executive of Amazon questioned on Friday the claims presented by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that Amazon workers face “poor working conditions” and invited her to visit the company’s facilities see it “for yourself.”

Dave Clark, Amazon’s vice president of global operations, responded on Twitter that the claims “are simply not true, we are proud of our excellent compensation jobs, first-day benefits and many other benefits, such as Career Choice’s prepaid educational programs.” He invited her to visit the Amazon operations.

Ocasio-Cortez, a recently elected socialist democrat who openly criticized plans to locate Amazon’s second headquarters in a New York City neighborhood near her congressional district, asked on Twitter “why Amazon workers should urinate in bottles and work while receiving food stamps to meet the ‘company goals?’ Performance should not be subject to poor working conditions. “

She referred to a Newsweek report published in September that raised those claims.

A spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez did not respond to a request for comment.

Ocasio-Cortez was among the progressive Democrats in New York who had opposed the $ 2.8 billion in incentives from the city and state of New York to bring Amazon to build a new headquarters in the Queens district. Amazon abruptly canceled the plan, on Thursday.

Foxconn Technology Co, based in Taiwan, won $ 4 billion in state and local Wisconsin incentives in exchange for a pledge to build a $ 10 billion development.

Earlier this month, Foxconn said it would build a factory in Wisconsin. Reuters reported that Foxconn is reconsidering the manufacture of liquid crystal display panels and that it intends to hire mainly engineers and researchers there.

Other news media have reported this kind of poor working conditions on Amazon, an undercover reporter entered the Amazon warehouse in the United Kingdom to discover the appalling working conditions in which the employees in the uK were found.
