House Judiciary Committee issues subpoena for ‘complete and unredacted’ Mueller report

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, announced that he has issued a subpoena for the Justice Department to deliver the “complete and unredacted” Mueller report on the so-called Russian plot prepared by special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

“This morning, @HouseJudiciary (the Judicial Committee of the House of Representatives) has issued a citation to the Department of Justice for the Mueller report,” Nadler said in a statement posted on Twitter.

In the note, he states that the Department of Justice has the obligation to comply with that citation until May 1.

On Friday, the department published a censored version of the report with numerous deletions, prepared for two years by Mueller on the alleged connection between the electoral team of the current president, Donald Trump, and Russia in 2016, and the possible obstruction of Justice by of the president.

In the document, Mueller concludes that there was “insufficient evidence to support criminal charges” related to the “numerous contacts between individuals linked to the Russian Government” and the Trump campaign, but casts doubt on possible obstruction of Justice by the president.

Nadler was today “open to working with the Department (of Justice) to find a reasonable agreement for access to these materials.”

“However,” he added in the statement, “I can not accept any proposal that leaves most of Congress in the dark, as they struggle with their obligations of legislation, supervision and constitutional accountability.”

The Democratic leader indicated that the House Judiciary Committee needs and has the right to access the full version of the report: “The wording (in reference to the edition of the text) seems significant. So far we have not seen any real evidence that the special prosecutor developed to make this case. “

“Even the redacted version of the report highlights serious instances of crimes by President Trump and some of his closest associates,” said Nadler, who concluded that Congress must now determine what steps to take from now on and the full scope of that alleged wrongdoing by President Trump.

Yesterday, Nadler claimed the full report, which, in his opinion, could be a “road map” for lawmakers and asked Mueller to testify in Congress “no later than May 23”.
