DeSantis goes after Biden in Pennsylvania, says Democratic Party 'dead' in Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis used a Saturday campaign speech in Pennsylvania to make several pointed attacks on President Joe Biden.

At the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference 2023, DeSantis called Biden a “floundering leader” and said that the president’s poor performance helped Republicans win more seats.

DeSantis told the crowd, “We have the highest percentage of votes of any Republican candidate for governor in the history of the state of Florida.”
“We were able to win Democrat counties or urban counties like Miami-Dade County, and not only did we win, but we won by double digits.”

The governor of Florida said that it was a huge loss for the Democratic Party.
“They didn’t want Florida to turn red, so they tried everything but the kitchen sink to stop us. But we have left the Democratic Party in Florida for dead.”

The governor of Florida has been walking a political tightrope for months because he won’t say for sure that he will run for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.

At the same time, he has had problems with both the Biden administration and the campaign of former President Donald Trump, who both see him as a rival for the White House.

In speeches this year, the governor has used Florida’s many conservative policies wins as a model for the rest of the country.

Sources close to DeSantis have said that he would start running for president in late spring or early summer after the current legislative session in Florida is over.

But the governor’s recent trips to Iowa and Nevada, which have early voting, and his trip to New Hampshire next month are making people think more about 2024.

DeSantis said earlier this week that his state “will not help” with any extradition request by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg because of what he called “questionable circumstances.” He also called the charges against Trump “un-American” and a “weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda.”

On Thursday, a Manhattan grand jury indicted the former president and Republican candidate for president in 2024. This came after the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office had been looking into him for years.
