Attorney General
Florida’s Attorney General race will determine who leads the state’s top legal office, including enforcement priorities involving public safety, consumer protection, fraud, litigation against the federal government and constitutional issues.
Attorney General James Uthmeier is seeking election to the office after being appointed in 2025. Democrat Josรฉ Javier Rodrรญguez is also running for the office.
The race is expected to focus heavily on law enforcement, consumer protection, state lawsuits, immigration policy and the broader direction of Florida’s legal agenda.
Chief Financial Officer
The Chief Financial Officer oversees major financial functions of state government, including accounting, auditing, insurance-related responsibilities and oversight of state spending.
CFO Blaise Ingoglia is seeking election after being appointed to the post. The race has already focused on government accountability, local spending audits, immigration enforcement reimbursements and the use of taxpayer dollars.
Candidates in the CFO race include Republicans and Democrats competing for a seat that plays a major role in Florida’s financial oversight.
Commissioner of Agriculture
The Commissioner of Agriculture oversees agriculture, consumer services, food safety, concealed weapons licensing, land stewardship and other state responsibilities.
Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson is seeking another term. The race is expected to involve agriculture policy, property rights, conservation, food supply issues, consumer protection and the future of rural Florida.
Congressional Races
Florida’s congressional races will help determine the balance of power in Washington.
Several districts are already drawing attention as candidates seek endorsements, raise money and position themselves ahead of the primary.
South Florida, Central Florida and North Florida are all expected to feature competitive contests, depending on candidate fields, party turnout and national political conditions.

State Legislative Races
Florida voters will also decide state House and Senate contests that will shape the next Legislature.
These races matter because state lawmakers control policy on education, taxes, insurance, transportation, housing, immigration, public safety and the state budget.
Legislative leadership, committee assignments and party margins will help determine how much of the next governor’s agenda can pass in Tallahassee.
Ballot Measures
Florida voters may also decide constitutional amendments and ballot measures in 2026.
One of the most closely watched issues is the property tax amendment, which has already become a major political fight involving state leaders, local governments and taxpayer groups.
Voters should review official ballot language carefully before casting a ballot. Constitutional amendments in Florida generally require at least 60% voter approval to pass.
Campaign Finance
Campaign finance will be one of the most important indicators of political strength throughout the 2026 cycle.
Voters can review candidate fundraising, expenditures, political committees and major donors through the Florida Division of Elections campaign finance database.
The Florida Pundit will continue tracking major fundraising developments, outside spending, political committees and donor activity throughout the election cycle.
How to Register to Vote
Florida voters can register online, update voter information or check registration status through the state’s official voter registration website.
Voters should confirm their registration before election deadlines and verify that their address, party affiliation and vote-by-mail status are current.
Vote-by-Mail and Early Voting
Vote-by-mail and early voting rules can vary depending on deadlines, county procedures and election type.
Voters should contact their county Supervisor of Elections for specific information about ballot mailing dates, early voting locations, drop-off rules and Election Day polling places.
