Ron DeSantis Honors Hulk Hogan with Dedicated Trail in Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis led the dedication of a section of the Clearwater Trail in Pinellas County to honor wrestling legend Hulk Hogan. The initiative celebrates the “extraordinary life and legacy” of the iconic athlete, who called the Tampa Bay area home.

The two-mile stretch along State Route 60 will officially be named “Hulk Hogan Trail”, according to a proclamation signed by DeSantis.

Tribute Ceremony

Joined by Hogan’s family and friends, the governor highlighted the importance of honoring his career and contributions to sports.

“Even though he is no longer with us, Hulk Hogan’s legacy remains strong, especially in the Tampa Bay area he proudly called home,” DeSantis said during the ceremony.

The Republican governor has long been a fan of Terry Bollea, Hogan’s real name. Earlier in 2025, DeSantis declared “Hulk Hogan Day” and ordered all government flags to fly at half-staff in his honor.

Sports and Cultural Recognition

During the event, DeSantis defended professional wrestling’s physical demands against critics who dismiss it as “staged.”

“When people say wrestling is fake, let me tell you something: it’s not fake when you’re thrown out of the ring and hit a concrete floor,” he said.

The trail will feature special signage and exercise equipment adorned in the red and yellow colors that defined Hogan’s career, making it both a tribute and a community fitness space.

This dedication cements Hulk Hogan as an enduring icon in Florida, celebrated for his wrestling career and lasting influence on local culture.
