UFC fighter Conor McGregor arrested in Florida for breaking fan’s phone

UFC fighter Conor McGregor was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida on Monday after a fan said the Irish fighter smashed his phone on the ground and then picked it up and walked away with it.

The Irish fighter was accused of robbery and criminal mischief after he snatched the cell phone from a fan who had taken a couple of pictures outside the Fontainebleu hotel in Miami Beach.

According to the reports, McGregor slapped the phone that the follower held and then stepped on it several times. Police said the UFC fighter picked up the phone and left with it.

According to what the victim of the assault said to the investigators, the stolen phone has a value of 1,000 dollars. The officers arrested the Irishman despite his resistance and his refusal to be transferred.

Finally, he was taken to the Guilford Knight Turner Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

In a statement, McGregor’s attorney spoke about the incident. “On Monday night, Conor McGregor was involved in a minor altercation over a cell phone that resulted in a call to the authorities, Mr. McGregor appreciates the response of the force of the law and promises all their cooperation,” the statement said.

“Patience is a virtue that I continue to work in. I love my fans a lot, thank you all,” the wrestler wrote on his Instagram account.

It is not the first time that the fighter is arrested in the US. The previous one occurred in April 2018, when he was accused of attacking in Brooklyn two UFC fighters riding a bus after a mixed martial arts event.

That time he faced three charges of assault and one of vandalism, in addition to having to pay a bond of $ 50,000 to be released. In turn, the judge in charge of the case issued an order of protection for fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg, who were injured in the incident caused by The Notorius and could not participate in a UFC event.

Due to this scandal, Conor fulfilled the hours of community service that the city of New York had demanded. According to his lawyer Bruce Maffeo told the New York Post, McGregor attended two churches in Brooklyn to perform maintenance work.
