Multi-million dollar project aims to improve 3 Major Miami Highways

The Florida Department of Transportation unveiled a multi-million dollar project to improve and redesign three major highways that will help connect communities within Miami and redefine the skyline with a six-arched signature bridge.

According to the NBC6 station, the project values an investment of 802 million dollars and focuses on the improvements of State Road 836 (Dolphin Expressway), Interstate 95 and Interstate 395 that would redefine a new road horizon with an exclusive six-arched bridge.

It is estimated that the construction would last four years and its final completion will be foreseen for the autumn of 2023. The authorities informed that most of the delays and diversions in the traffic would be implemented in the afternoon schedule.

The renovation on SR 836 will begin west of Northwest 17 Avenue and end at the intersection of I-95. Drivers approaching the proposed double-decker entrance at the toll gate may take the upper level to MacArthur Causeway, or the lower level to I-95 northbound or Biscayne Boulevard.

On I-95, the concrete pavement will be replaced for the lanes in both directions, north and south, from streets 8 and 29 northwest. The innovations will also alleviate the flow of traffic through the Midtown crossing and will increase vehicle safety with additional lanes, as well as a connecting ramp.

For I-395, renovations will begin at the Midtown intersection with the Dolphin Expressway and I-95 to the MacArthur Causeway. The arched bridge will span more than 1,000 feet on 2nd northeast street and SR 5 or Biscayne Boulevard.
