Terri Hasdorff Launches Campaign for Open Florida Congressional Seat in Redrawn CD-22

LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. — Republican business owner and political consultant Terri Hasdorff has launched a campaign for Florida’s newly redrawn 22nd Congressional District, becoming one of the first candidates seeking to represent a seat Republicans hope will help strengthen their House majority in 2026.

Hasdorff, president of Wellington-based Capitol Solutions Consulting and a former Capitol Hill staffer, announced her candidacy Friday, pledging to support President Donald Trump’s America First agenda while focusing on economic growth, border security, and government reform.

“Florida has a unique opportunity to help change the course of our nation by electing new conservative leaders to Congress,” Hasdorff said in announcing her campaign.

The newly configured district stretches from Marco Island on Florida’s Gulf Coast through portions of Southwest Florida and into parts of Palm Beach County, creating a politically competitive seat without an incumbent.

New District Emerges Following Redistricting

The race comes after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a new congressional map that reshaped several districts across the state ahead of the 2026 election cycle.

Republicans argue the new map better reflects Florida’s political landscape, while Democrats have criticized the changes as favoring GOP candidates.

Florida’s redrawn 22nd Congressional District includes communities with diverse economic interests, ranging from agriculture and rural development to suburban growth and coastal issues.

Hasdorff Highlights Washington Experience

Hasdorff brings experience from both government and private-sector roles.

She previously worked as Deputy Director of the House Republican Conference and later served in the administration of President George W. Bush, where she held a leadership role within the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

More recently, she has led Capitol Solutions Consulting and served as Executive Chair of the Republican Women’s Federal Forum.

Hasdorff previously sought congressional office in Alabama during the 2020 election cycle.

Campaign Focuses on Economy and Agriculture

The Republican candidate said reducing federal spending, strengthening national security, and protecting Florida agriculture would be among her top priorities.

Hasdorff also pointed to concerns about inflation, property insurance costs, and preserving farmland from overdevelopment.

“Everything you’ve heard about Washington is true. It is a swamp, and it still needs draining,” Hasdorff said.

She emphasized support for small businesses, farmers, retirees, and working families throughout the district.
