TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson enters the 2026 election with more than $33 million available across his campaign and political committee accounts, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Florida Division of Elections, giving the Republican incumbent one of the largest financial advantages in a statewide race.
The Agriculture Commissioner is one of Florida’s elected Cabinet officers and oversees the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, whose responsibilities include consumer protection, food safety, state forests, fuel inspections, concealed weapons licensing, wildfire management, and other statewide regulatory functions.
The size of Simpson’s campaign war chest underscores the importance of an office whose authority extends well beyond agriculture. The department regulates a broad range of industries and services affecting millions of Floridians, making campaign fundraising for the position an area of public interest.
Simpson’s financial position gives him a substantial advantage heading into the 2026 election cycle and places him among Florida’s best-funded candidates for statewide office.
With the Aug. 18 primary approaching, campaign finance reports will continue to offer voters a clearer picture of the financial resources shaping one of Florida’s least-publicized statewide contests.
