Eight Republicans successfully make Florida primary ballot

The state party in Florida has announced that eight Republicans have met the necessary qualifications to be included on the GOP primary ballot. This announcement was made on Wednesday, after the expiration of the deadline.

According to a report by Politico, Republican voters will be presented with a range of choices for their preferred candidate, including former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, and Pastor Ryan Binkley.

Florida, commonly referred to as the Sunshine State, employs a winner-take-all primary system and serves as the residence for the two leading contenders in the political arena, namely Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis. According to polling data, it has been indicated that Trump holds a significant advantage in the state of Florida compared to its governor. The potential consequence of a defeat in this state for the DeSantis campaign is perceived as potentially detrimental, as it is at risk of descending to third place in rankings, trailing behind Haley, as indicated by certain surveys.

The inclusion of Binkley on the ballot during the party’s announcement was a notable and unexpected occurrence. The candidate’s campaign has been predominantly funded through self-financing, and he did not meet the criteria to be included in any of the primary debates organized by the Republican National Committee.

Political parties are required to submit their final ballot rosters to the state by November 30th, while candidates have the option to withdraw their candidacy until December 12th.
