Florida AFL-CIO Leaves Jared Moskowitz Off First 2026 Congressional Endorsement Slate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. โ€” The Florida AFL-CIO has released its first slate of endorsements for the 2026 election cycle, backing several Democratic members of Congress while notably withholding support from U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz in one of Florida’s most closely watched congressional races.

The labor federation announced endorsements for a number of federal, state and local candidates, describing the slate as leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to protecting workers’ rights, collective bargaining and economic opportunity for working families.

Among Florida’s congressional delegation, several incumbent Democrats received the federation’s endorsement. Moskowitz, however, was absent from the organization’s initial list of endorsed candidates despite seeking reelection in Florida’s 25th Congressional District.

The omission comes as Moskowitz faces a Democratic primary challenge from Oliver Larkin, a progressive candidate who has campaigned on expanding labor protections, universal health care and other left-leaning policy priorities. Larkin has also received support from several progressive organizations and labor activists during his campaign.

The Florida AFL-CIO’s endorsement announcement did not provide an explanation for why Moskowitz was not included in the first round of endorsements, nor did it announce an endorsement in the Democratic primary for Florida’s 25th Congressional District.

Labor endorsements often play an important role in Democratic primaries by providing organizational support, volunteer networks and campaign resources. While the absence of an endorsement does not determine the outcome of a race, it highlights divisions that can emerge within Democratic coalitions during competitive primaries.

Florida’s 25th Congressional District is expected to remain one of the state’s most closely watched congressional contests during the 2026 election cycle as Democrats compete for the nomination ahead of the November general election.

The Florida AFL-CIO said additional endorsements are expected later in the election cycle as more races develop.
