Trump wants the U.S. to win the 5G “race”

The industry will invest 275,000 million dollars in 5G networks and create three million new jobs.

President Donald Trump announced new initiatives to develop the implementation of 5G in the United States and said it is a “race” that the country must “win”.

“We can not allow any other country to overtake the US in this powerful industry of the future, we are leading by far in many industries of this kind and we simply can not allow that to happen,” Trump said during a White House rally.

“The 5G race is a race that the United States must win and, frankly, it’s a race that our big companies are already involved in. We’ve given them the incentive they need, it’s a race that we’re going to win,” he added.

Although Trump did not make direct reference to other countries, China and others in Asia are also developing 5G quickly.

In fact, last week South Korea inaugurated the first 5G national network in the world, available with the three largest operators in the country in 85 cities, highways or high-speed rail lines.

In the United States, the 5G is only available for the moment with Verizon and in certain areas of Chicago and Minneapolis.

However, Trump assured that the US It will double Korea in 5G markets by the end of the year: “The US will have 5G in 92 markets in the country, the next country, South Korea, will have 48. So we have 92, compared to 48. And we’re going to accelerate that pace fast.”

“But we can not rest, the race is far from over, US companies must lead global cellular technology, 5G networks must be secure, they have to be strong, they have to be protected from the enemy,” the president said.

In the speech, Trump made it clear that the Government leaves the entire 5G development initiative to the private sector.

“The private sector drives it and the private sector directs it, the government does not need to invest too much money,” Trump said, announcing that the industry will invest $ 275 billion in 5G networks and create three million new jobs.

In the same event, the president of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Ajit Pai, announced that on December 10 the Executive will auction 3,400 MHz in three different bands.

It will be the third 5G auction in the country and the largest auction in US history.

Pai also announced the creation of a fund of 20,400 million dollars to bring high speed internet to 4 million rural homes in the country.

Unlike the 4G LTE, aimed mainly at mobile devices, tablets and computers, the 5G is necessary for the development of intelligent technology, such as autonomous automobiles.

The country that achieves the implementation of the 5G before will be in a better position to lead the development of this technology.
