Republicans Stand Firm With ICE, Blast Rising Anti-Agent Violence in Thanksgiving Message

WASHINGTON — Republicans aren’t holding back this Thanksgiving. With anti-ICE hostility exploding across the country, GOP lawmakers delivered a powerful holiday message backing federal immigration officers who continue working through the holiday as President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown intensifies.

In a video released by the Department of Homeland Security, top Republicans praised the “unshakable dedication” of ICE agents — men and women often targeted simply for enforcing federal law.

Sen. Joni Ernst thanked ICE personnel for their service and sacrifice during a season when most Americans are home with their families.
Rep. Andy Ogles took an even harder line:
“I thank you for deporting the illegal invaders flooding our communities.”

Anti-ICE Violence Skyrockets 1,153%

The DHS paired the video with alarming new data. From January 21 to November 21, 2024, there were only 19 reported assaults on ICE agents. In the same period of 2025?
A staggering 238 attacks — a 1,153% surge.

Republicans say left-wing activists and Democratic politicians have spent years demonizing ICE, creating an environment where violence is not only tolerated but encouraged.

GOP Leaders: ICE Is Essential to National Security

House Speaker Mike Johnson and other GOP lawmakers featured in the DHS video emphasized that ICE agents are indispensable to national security — and that the growing hatred directed at them is unacceptable.

DHS reinforced the message across social media:
“This Thanksgiving, we thank the dedicated men and women of ICE who work during the holiday to keep our communities safe.”

As the Trump administration expands immigration enforcement nationwide, Republicans are calling for tougher penalties for anyone who threatens or attacks federal agents.

Thanksgiving Reminder: The Front Line Never Sleeps

While Americans gather around their tables, ICE agents remain on the front lines — arresting violent criminals, targeting human traffickers, and disrupting illegal operations that don’t take holidays off.

For Republicans, the message is unmistakable: ICE defends America. And America must defend ICE.
