Two people arrested for burning the US flag outside the White House

Two people were arrested after burning the American flag outside the White House while President Donald Trump commemorated the “Salute to the US” on the 4 of July.

According to information published by The Hill, the flag burning was outside the limits of a permit issued by the National Park Service.” During the incident, a couple of Secret Service officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

One of the detainees was charged with assaulting a police officer and with malicious burns, while the other person was arrested for obstructing a police investigation and resisting arrest.

According to USA Today, the group of protesters, who burned the flag and published a video of what happened, called itself the “Revolutionary Communist Party”. In the recording you can also see a group of protesters pushing each other after the fire goes out. A veteran took the flag while it was still on fire.

Another group of protesters took the flag burned and sang “The United States was never great,” referring to President Trump’s slogan during his 2016 campaign: Make America Great Again.

The National Mall was full of supporters of the president and his critics. The area was highly protected by the authorities, the only ones who could pass to that place were friends and relatives of Donald Trump, as well as several Republicans who received VIP passes.

Many protesters were seen using their own “Make America Great Again” poster team, other groups also brought posters that criticized the president with slogans such as “Impeach Trump” and “She’s not my type”, referring to Trump’s denial of accusations of sexual assault last week.
