Next G7 summit will be at Trump golf resort in Miami, according to the White House

The next G-7 Summit will be held at Donald Trump’s golf resort in Florida, the National Doral Miami, in the City of Doral, the White House announced Thursday.

The G7 summit will be June 10-12. Trump has referred to the possibilities offered by that resort, located very close to the Miami airport, with many hotel rooms and separate buildings for each delegation.

A team that searched for places reported that it was “the perfect physical location to do this,” said White House interim Mick Mulvaney. He added that the initial list of about a dozen possible places was reduced to four before choosing Doral.

“It is as if they had built this facility especially for such events,” said Mulvaney.Holding the event in Doral would also be cheaper than in other places, he added.

Interviewed by local newspapers about the possibility of hosting the G7 Summit, the mayor of Doral, Juan Carlos BermÃēdez, said that “it means a great opportunity, not only for Doral but for all of South Florida. Obviously, for our city, This is a great occasion for the world to see who we are and where we are, ”explained the mayor.

It is an event of global importance, “Doral will have the privilege of hosting seven world leaders and their respective delegations.”

It would be the first time that an event of such magnitude would take place in that city in South Florida. “We have had golf championships, Vice President Mike Pence has been here on several occasions, the President recently spent a day in our city. But we have never had the opportunity to have an event of that magnitude, ”he said.

The municipality is ready. “These types of events do not only happen with the help of the city. The secret services, the Miami-Dade County Police, the federal government and many other entities are involved. ”

“This type of event brings, of course, more security, changes in traffic that we must assume.” On the other hand, “Doral is five minutes from the most important airport in this hemisphere and we have the places ready to welcome visitors to the Summit,” said Bermudez.

“We are ready to host this important event that is sure to be very good for Doral, Miami, Miami-Dade County, Broward, finally for everyone in South Florida,” he reaffirmed.

The US has hosted the G7 Summit in the past in Puerto Rico; Williamsburg, Virginia; Houston; Denver; Sea Island, Georgia; and Camp David, presidential resting place in Maryland.
