FBI: Body Found Fits Missing Florida Woman Gabby Petito

A body was found in Grand Teton National Park, where the FBI was looking for missing Florida woman Gabby Petito, according to a coroner in Wyoming.

There was no identification or other information available at the time.

The FBI Denver office’s Supervisory Special Agent, Charles Jones, made a statement to the press in which he expressed “sincere and genuine sympathies to Gabby’s family.”

“Earlier today, human remains corresponding with the description of Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito were discovered,” Jones added.“Full forensic identification has not been completed to ensure that we discovered Gabby 100 percent, but her family has been contacted.

Jones went on to say that the FBI, National Park Service, Forest Service, Teton County Sheriff’s Office, and Jackson Police Department had been conducting a search in the camping area where Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, were believed to be.

At this moment, the cause of death has not been determined.”

Petito’s father expressed optimism on Friday that his daughter will be found alive.

Petito went missing earlier this month while on a van excursion out west with her fiancé Brian Laundrie, who when went back to Florida without her.

”Positivity is hard. Trying to focus on the scenario I have in my head that she’s stuck somewhere and that she just you know just needs help and that we have to go and get her and bring her home,” said Joe Petito.

Police are currently looking for him at a big wildlife reserve on Florida’s Gulf Coast. According to his relatives, he traveled thereafter being named as a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance.

“We’re optimistic. We’re hoping he’s still alive. Certainly, we plan for all eventualities, but our main objective is to find him and return him back to North Port,” said Josh Taylor, the North Port Police Department’s public information officer.

Friends, neighbors, and supporters are likewise hopeful.

“We want to know where he is and where Gabby is.
“We want answers,” Samantha Corral stated.

While Laundrie is a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance, he is not wanted for a crime, according to investigators.
The investigation is now being treated as a multiple missing person case, according to authorities.
