Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier Endorses Kevin Steele for Congress

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has officially endorsed Republican congressional candidate Kevin Steele, adding another high-profile conservative voice to Steele’s campaign as the race for Congress continues to take shape.

In a social media post published Sunday, Uthmeier described Steele as a “faith-driven leader” who has consistently supported law enforcement, tougher penalties for violent criminals, stronger protections for children, and expanded parental rights in education.

“Kevin is a faith-driven leader who stands strong for law enforcement,” Uthmeier wrote. “He sponsored legislation to help prosecute more child predators and violent criminals, protect parental rights in education, and eliminate property taxes.”

Uthmeier concluded the endorsement by encouraging voters to support Steele’s congressional campaign.

Conservative Priorities at the Center of the Race

The endorsement highlights several issues that continue to resonate with Florida Republican voters, including public safety, education policy, tax relief, and support for law enforcement.

Steele has built his campaign around many of those same priorities, positioning himself as a conservative candidate focused on reducing government burdens, strengthening families, and supporting Florida’s law enforcement community.

The mention of eliminating property taxes is particularly notable, as discussions surrounding tax reform have become increasingly prominent among Florida conservatives concerned about rising housing costs and government spending.

Growing Support Among Republican Leaders

Uthmeier’s endorsement provides Steele with credibility among Republican primary voters and further aligns the campaign with the conservative policies advanced by Governor Ron DeSantis and other statewide Republican leaders.

Political endorsements often play an important role in helping candidates build fundraising networks, attract volunteers, and gain visibility among voters who may still be evaluating the field.

As the 2026 election cycle accelerates, endorsements from prominent Florida Republicans are expected to become increasingly important in competitive congressional races across the state.

Why It Matters

The endorsement signals continued support among Florida’s conservative leadership for candidates focused on law enforcement, parental rights, tax reform, and public safety.

With Florida remaining one of the nation’s most influential political battlegrounds, congressional races are expected to draw significant attention from both state and national political organizations in the months ahead.
