Fox News anchor returns after comment on Muslim congresswoman

Fox News anchor Jeanine Pirro returned to the air after an absence of two weeks, amid the controversy raised by her comments questioning the patriotism of a Muslim congresswoman.

“Justice with Judge Jeanine” aired on Saturday. Jeanine Pirro, who was a prosecutor and judge, thanked the viewers but did not explain the reasons for what appeared to be a suspension.

On March 9, Pirro wondered if the traditional Islamic veil worn by the Democratic representative Ilhan Omar reveals that the congresswoman adheres to Islamic laws “contrary to the constitution of the United States.”

Pirro then said that she was just trying to start a debate. She also added that being Muslim does not mean that it violates the US constitution.

At that time the Fox channel said it “strongly condemns” Pirro’s comments. Fox news did not explain the presenter’s absence, declining to comment on “internal schedule issues”.

A spokeswoman for Fox news network did not immediately respond to a message asking for comment in this matter.
