Fraudulent South Florida Mover Fined $110,000, Permanently Banned From Operating in Florida

Florida regulators have shut down yet another predatory moving operation after uncovering a pattern of fraud targeting residents across South Florida. The company, accused of bait-and-switch pricing schemes and holding customers’ belongings hostage for additional fees, has been hit with $110,000 in state fines and a permanent ban from operating in Florida.

According to state investigators, the mover repeatedly lured customers with impossibly low quotes, only to dramatically inflate prices on moving day—sometimes demanding thousands more than the contracted rate. Victims reported that the company refused to release their furniture, electronics, and personal items unless they paid the inflated amount.

Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), which oversees moving companies, said the case represents a growing trend of rogue movers exploiting families during major life transitions. Officials stressed that shutting down serial violators remains a top priority.

“This company preyed on consumers at their most vulnerable moments,” an FDACS spokesperson said. “Florida will not tolerate bad-faith operators abusing the public.”

The state’s final order not only slaps the business with significant financial penalties but also prohibits the owner and associated companies from applying for any future moving-industry licenses in Florida. Consumers who believe they were defrauded are encouraged to file complaints with FDACS.
