Socialist Ocasio-Cortez and Republican Ted Cruz plan to work together on lobbying Bill

New York Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Texas Senator Ted Cruz agreed to work together on new legislation that will prohibit former members of the Congress to lobby, a measure that appears to be quite good, but still to be the subject of skepticism.

“If you are a member of Congress and leave, you should not be allowed to take advantage of their service for a lobbying check. I do not think it should be legal at all to become a corporate lobbyist if you have served in Congress. At the very least, there should be a long waiting period, “said Ocasio-Cortez on social media.

Senator Cruz decided to intervene and agree with her, but he took it further and, instead, offered a lifetime ban.”This is something I do not say often: at this point, I AGREE with AOC. In fact, I have been requesting a LIFETIME PROHIBITION from former members of Congress who become lobbyists. The swamp would hate him, but maybe the opportunity for some bipartisan cooperation? “

Ocasio-Cortez replied and offered to cross the corridor and reach an agreement with Cruz, “Ted cruz, if you take a clean bill seriously, then I agree. Let’s make a Deal. If we can agree on a bill without partial clauses, without poisonous pills, etc., only a direct and clear prohibition that members of Congress become paid lobbyists, then I will co-direct the bill with you. “

The only problem with this bill is that it does not go far enough. Many members of Congress become lobbyists while they are still in office, they simply are not investigated and prosecuted for it. Too many, like Paul Ryan, the Clintons, Boehner, McConnell, McCain, Reid, Pelosi, Waters, Schumer and others, have sold their souls to big businesses or special interests and push the agenda that they are told to push regardless of what their voters want.

They have not been caught receiving payments, because no one has really investigated the charges of elected officials while they are in office. Everyone has become rich after joining the government, which tells you everything you need to know. Hopefully this legislation will be approved in spite of everything, but this involves Ocasio-Cortez, so we should be very skeptical.
